Zach Bender, #5 Forward

History:  Youngest player on Varsity two years in a row.  Varsity since freshman year.

Hobbies and Interests: Mountain Biking, Hiking, and Camping

Plans after High School: Attend college and eventually apply to medical school

Favorite Hockey Moment:  2018 State Semi-Final OT goal

Blake DeVries, #6 Forward

History:  2012 House league champs, Team Black Ice!

Hobbies and Interests:  Cross Country and track

Plans after High School:  Go to college

Favorite Hockey moment: Winning Varsity state

Carson Kulmala, #22 Defense

History:  played for 14 years in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.  2018-2019 season with the Rushmore Thunder

Hobbies and Interests:  Golf, Gym, and Snowboarding

Plans after High School: Play Junior hockey, attend college and pursue a degree in business

Favorite Hockey Moment: Winning the city championship, Thunder Bay, Ontario

Scott Kendrick, #14 Forward

History:  Started as squirt for Greeley Stampede in Greeley, CO. Played Pee Wee and Bantam for Renegades in Greeley,  Midget Minor & Major for Jr. Eagles in Ft. Collins, CO.  Currently plays for Rushmore Thunder in Rapid City, SD

Hobbies and Interests: Snowboarding, camping, mountain biking

Plans after High School: Study Biochemical Engineering; play college hockey if available at institution

Favorite Hockey Moment:  Hockey Tournament in southern California. Entire team signed up for surfing lessons and spent the day catching waves (and won hockey games!)

Camden Nayman, #20 Forward

History:  I have always played for the Rushmore Thunder.  I played in their house league for the first few years and began hockey traveling as a Pee Wee.  I also played with the Western Wranglers.

Hobbies and Interests:  Post 320 Baseball and hunting

Plans after High School: College and sports

Favorite Hockey Moment: Being part of the Rushmore Thunder Varsity team when we took 1stin the SD State Hockey tournament and placed 3rdin Nationals this year.

Pacey Nelsen, #61 Forward

History:  Started playing at age 9 and has been a part of two state championships

Hobbies and Interests:  Plays tennis for Rapid City Central High School. Plays bass in the orchestra and has participated in All State Orchestra

Plans after High School:  Plans to attend a university for business but is undecided where.

Favorite Hockey Moment: Winning state for sure!

Ryan Nolan, #21 Forward

History:  I have played for the Rushmore Thunder Hockey Association for the past 14 years.  I also played two seasons for the SD National team.

Hobbies and Interests:  Hockey, golf, baseball, working out, hunting, fishing and camping

Plans after High School:  I plan to pursue hockey or golf after high school and attend college

Favorite Hockey Moment:  Some of my favorite memories are playing for the SD National team and becoming good friends with my teammates who were from all over the state; winning the Varsity state championship in 2018; being selected to All State in 2017 and 2018; playing in the USA Hockey National High School Tournament in Cleveland and Minneapolis

John Young, #30 Goalie

History:  2003-2006 played in the Oahe Capital Association.  2006-current Rushmore Thunder

Hobbies and Interests:  Golf, hockey, spending time with friends, and reading

Plans after High School: Undecided

Favorite Hockey Moment: Stopping 62 out of 66 shots and beating Edina, MN in triple overtime at the 2018 National High School Tournament

Shila Simpson, #11

History:  I’ve played hockey since I was 4 years old, and have been playing girls Varsity and JV since I was 8.  13 years total!

Hobbies:  Hiking, Kayaking, Crossfit, and hanging with friends

Plans after Graduation:  Go to college and study pre-med or bio-chem and to med school

Favorite Hockey memory:  The championship and semifinal game a couple of years ago when State was in Rapid City

Cherish Anderson, #13

History: Played house my first year and girls for the rest. Been playing hockey for 4 years. 

Hobbies: outdoors, sports, painting. 

Plans after Graduation: Go to college at USD to become a physical therapist. 

Favorite Hockey memory: Scoring my first goal.
